Sorry, Redeemer Church’s Family Room is no longer meeting.
Why do we exist?
Redeemer Church exists to help busy commuting people and families follow Jesus.
What is our vision?
Our vision is to be an organic, growing movement of people and families committed to God in worship, growth in discipleship, grace in lifestyle, generosity of resources and gathering in groups.
How will we get there?
We are the people behind Redeem the Commute, a mobile app and community with quality, life-transforming content on relationships, parenting, Christian basics, and daily challenges for growing followers of Jesus. We’ll help people connect to others in groups, and in 2014, we plan to gather all our groups together for a big celebration.
We began a unique new worship service for all ages in Fall 2014. At the Family Room we engage children and adults in worship and learning to follow Jesus as one community, in one room. We don’t dumb it down so that the adults and bored, and we don’t make it so high brow that the kids don’t get it. We’re excited about pioneering this unique form of church specially designed for the busy, commuting families of Ajax.
We are committed to planting a new church. We have no intention of attracting people from other churches, expect those who commit to helping us build our new community. We will be gathering a team of people committed to loving and serving their neighbours, and seeing a new church of new people emerge. What do we value?
We share our beliefs in common with other Christian churches, and in our context, we particularly value these words:
- Gospel – This means good news, and so we’ll be telling the story of Jesus having redeemed his broken world all the time. If you’ve never heard a story about Jesus or Christians that sounded like good news, you’ll want to stay tuned.
- Missional – This means we are not a church you can go to, but rather a church on the go. Our emphasis is on growing as followers of Jesus in our neighbourhoods. Our regular celebrations as a whole community will not seek to attract newcomers or Christians from other churches, but are one aspect of a life of following Jesus.
- Neighbourhood – Jesus was clear that his followers should love their neighbours. Instead of a list of programs and services to attend, we’ll encourage you to spend time at home and at work and everywhere in between, caring for the people around you. Share a meal together, host a playdate, go mountain biking. When they ask why, tell them it’s all part of following Jesus.
- Innovation – God is the creative source of all things, and invites humans to join him in creating beautiful art, technology, medicine and more. This is why we use the latest technology and communications media to communicate ancient truths.
